London-based smartphone maker Nothing on Thursday (May 29, 2025) hinted that its next flagship smartphone Phone 3 may not have the glyph interface. Nothing introduced the glyph lighting system at the back of the phone with the Phone 1 launched in 2022 and that’s what differentiated it from the competition apart from having a transparent design.
On Thursday, Nothing shared on X (formerly Twitter), “We killed the Glyph Interface.”
The glyph was used to notify charging status, Uber’s arrival or food aggregator’s location, notifications, calls and much more.
If they actually mean it then Nothing Phone 3, which is scheduled for launch in July 2025, might not have the glyph features and could be compensated with something else, possibly a dot matrix design.

Phone 3 it will be “Nothing’s first true flagship smartphone — built with premium materials, major performance upgrades, and software that genuinely levels things up.”
Phone 3 is likely to run Snapdragon 8 Elite processor accompanied by up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. A 5,000 mAh battery is also expected in Phone 3.
A 50 MP triple rear camera set up can be a possibility in Phone 3 along with a 32 MP selfie camera. The rear is more likely to have a dedicated telephoto lens.
Phone 3 could also use a 6.78 inch of flexible LTPO AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
