LinkedIn appoints Deepak Agarwal as chief AI officer

LinkedIn has appointed Deepak Agarwal as their new chief AI officer. Agarwal, who previously served as the chief AI officer and VP of consumer and trust engineering at lifestyle social media platform Pinterest, confirmed the news on LinkedIn. 

“I am thrilled to share that I’m joining LinkedIn as the company’s Chief AI Officer. My mission as CAIO is to push the boundaries of what’s possible, ensuring our AI innovations are not only cutting-edge and industry-defining but also ethical, inclusive, human-centric and empathetic,” he stated. 

This is Agarwal’s second stint at the professional networking platform. In 2012, he had been appointed as VP of Engineering, AI - a role he served for 8 years. 

His team was key in developing AI innovations at massive scale which are formed the foundation for most of the company’s AI efforts now. 

Last week, LinkedIn added an AI tool called Job Match that will give job seekers advice on whether a job is suited for them before applying.
