ChatGPT launches screen sharing and real-time video analysis for paid users

OpenAI has added the real-time video and screen sharing features on its Advanced Voice Mode to its AI chatbot, ChatGPT. The AI firm demoed the feature as a part of ‘OpenAI’s 12 of Shipmas’ event.

Users can screen share with ChatGPT and ask it for feedback on something or hints to solve a complex maths problem. They will be able to see a video icon on the bottom left next to the ChatGPT chat bar, they can click on to start the video. In case they want to share screen, they can tap on the three-dot menu and click on ‘Share Screen.’

The feature was first teased way back in May, when GPT-4o was able to look at a game and describe what was happening in a natural conversational manner. But the vision feature was pushed back multiple times because OpenAI reportedly believed that it wasn’t production-ready.

While Advanced Voice Mode was finally released in September for some ChatGPT users, it still didn’t have vision.

The capability is now available on iOS and Android mobile apps for ChatGPT Teams, Plus and Pro users, and will be rolled out to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu subscribers in January. But advanced voice mode will not be available to several countries in the EU.

Just a couple of days ago, Google also announced a similar feature as a part of Project Astra which is still being tested on Android.

Additionally, OpenAI also launched ‘Santa Mode’ as a preset voice in ChatGPT to celebrate the festive season.
