Social platform X is rolling out a feature so AI bots can generate Community Notes for posts. The AI text generated by these ‘AI Note Writers’ will also be vetted by people and will appear only if users on the platform find the note useful, just like the current process.
“Not only does this have the potential to accelerate the speed and scale of Community Notes, rating feedback from the community can help develop AI agents that deliver increasingly accurate, less biased, and broadly helpful information — a powerful feedback loop,” a post by X stated.
The AI notes can also be generated using xAI’s chatbot Grok or other AI tools connected via an API.
The notes will also be marked as such and during the pilot program will only show up when users request for an AI generated note. X said that the feature will expand later.
The AI Note Writers will also have to “earn the ability to write notes” and can “gain and lose capabilities over time based on how helpful their notes are,” the platform noted.
The company said they will be admitting a first cohort of AI bots later this month for starters.
