Google said that its AI offering Gemini will be coming to a range of devices including watches, cars, televisions, headsets, glasses, and earbuds.
In a company blog post, Google’s Senior Director of Product and User Experience (Android), Guemmy Kim, said that Gemini would be coming to users’ Wear OS smartwatches, giving them hands-free access to Generative AI assistance.
While voice-based assistance in the past often required users to speak slowly and clearly, Generative AI chatbots and assistants have been developed to understand even natural speech patterns, according to Google.
“Hands-free voice commands with Google Assistant have always been at the core of Android Auto and cars with Google built-in. Soon, Gemini will upgrade that experience by understanding what you want while you’re driving, through natural conversations. So instead of focusing on the perfect prompt or tapping the right button, you can stay focused on the road ahead,” said Kim in the blog post.
Gemini will also work across apps so users can access directions to reach a place that was mentioned in an email, or listen to summaries of their text messages. Gemini is set to come to Android Auto in the coming months, as well as cars with Google Built-in.
The search and internet giant also plans to bring Gemini to GoogleTV, so that users can get special content recommendations or have kid-friendly interactions with the chatbot that are further augmented with videos.
Google further said it was combining Gemini with Android XR, which is being built along with Samsung. Gemini will also come to Samsung’s first headset that is launching later this year, per the post. This is meant to help users with tasks, plans, and projects such as building a vacation itinerary while also giving wearers an immersive experience.
Finally, Google confirmed that Gemini would be coming to earbuds from Sony and Samsung.
