Google urged US government to back away from breaking up firm: Report

Alphabet's Google met with President Donald Trump's government last week and urged them to back away from a push to break up the search engine company, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.

The company said a breakup may raise national security issues, according to the report, citing people familiar with the discussions.

Google and the U.S. Department of Justice did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

Alphabet's ad tech products and ad-driven search business are facing scrutiny from U.S. regulators seeking to break up the company.
