Amazon to discontinue App Store on Android

Amazon is shutting down their app store on Android on August 20. The company made the announcement on the FAQ page saying they will also discontinue the Amazon Coins program on the same day.

“As of Feb 20, 2025, Amazon Coins are no longer available for purchase,” it stated. Users have until August 20, this year to use their remaining Coins, and they won’t be able to purchase new Coins anymore. Coins that remain in your account after the date will be refunded.

The FAQ has also mentioned that Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire Tablets will still carry the app store.

Meanwhile, Amazon has informed developers too that they will not be able to submit new apps for Android devices any longer. But they can make updates to existing apps until the due date of discontinuation.

Last year, Amazon also ended support for their app store on Windows starting from March 5 this year.
