Starlink satellite internet comes to Bhutan

Starlink satellite internet is now available in Bhutan, as Elon Musk-owned SpaceX tries to bring the low-orbit, low latency satellite internet to more regions across land, air, and sea.

Starlink shared an update to its product availability map on February 11, highlighting that Bhutan is now one of the countries that can access its satellite internet, along with Australia, U.S.A., Canada, Mongolia, and others in Europe.

The company’s technology is pending regulatory approval in India, and the service date for Myanmar is unknown, while Bangladesh was slated to have access this year.

Musk made a statement confirming that satellite beams were turned off over India after satellite internet equipment from Starlink was recovered in Manipur’s Imphal East district late in 2024. The seizure of the equipment triggered fears that militants could be illegally accessing Starlink even though it is not available for India.

India-based users are also able to download the Starlink internet app.
